Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine Department of Surgery is seeking an Academic General Surgeon to join its team with a dual appointment at Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (GMH) and the Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital located in the Chicago suburbs, Illinois.

The majority of the clinical work is intended to be at GMH. At GMH, the candidate will serve as a staff general surgeon and have clinic, inpatient, and emergency care responsibilities as part of the Division of Minimally Invasive and Community General Surgery. This is an opportunity to work with academic surgeon partners in a collaborative environment within a smaller community hospital setting. Similar, albeit less, patient care responsibilities will exist at the Hines VA.

Appropriate candidates should be capable of performing a wide variety of general surgery operations and be engaged in educating surgical residents and medical students who will regularly rotate on service at each practice location.

The candidate will have successfully completed an accredited General Surgery program and will be Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery and should be at the Assistant or Associate Professor level.

Specialized clinical programs include Blind Rehabilitation, Spinal Cord Injury, Neurosurgery, Radiation Therapy and Cardiovascular Surgery. Hines VAH currently operates 483 beds and six community-based outpatient clinics in Hoffman Estates, Kankakee, Oak Lawn, Aurora, LaSalle (Peru), and Joliet.
