This program assists in the reintegration of homeless Veterans back into the community at their highest level of independent functioning. The DRRTP provides the necessary skills to recognize signs of a return of risk behaviors and will provide the sources available within the community with which to intervene. The DRRTP supports efforts in job placement and home procurement with the goal of independent living, including budget management, nutrition, preventive health care, medication management and leisure/ lifestyle skills. The DRRTP serves Veterans with mental health and substance use disorders who are also experiencing homelessness.
The Compensated Work Therapy/ Transitional Housing Program (CWT/TR) is a 24 bed program located in 5 individual homes on the grounds of the Perry Point VA Medical Center. One of the key components of the program is the therapeutic value of community work, and therefore, the goal of obtaining community work when prepared, and as soon as possible must be one of the expressed goals for every resident coming into the program.
