The Nurse Educator/ Resuscitation Education Initiative (REDI)/ Simulation Coordinator is responsible and accountable for the development, promotion, and delivery of professional basic and advanced life support training for healthcare staff across all departments and services within the medical center. In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. The Simulation / REDI Nurse Educator will assess, plan, design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate educational offerings to clinically-active JBVAMC staff. The individual assists in the development and administration of simulation programs and other educational technologies for innovative approaches in training and education for interdisciplinary staff at all levels and locations. Acts as a resource regarding the scope of simulation potential to meet education and training needs throughout the organization. Will provide simulations using Just Culture and No Harm concepts promoting the facility's goal to become a High Reliability Organization. The Simulation /RedI Nurse Educator is expected to exhibit leadership in professional nursing by serving on committees, providing mentorship to professional nurses, students, and residents and to contribute to his/her own self-development. This position is composed of an education component, unit specific competencies, and a performance component. Duties include but are not limited to: identification of educational needs within Nursing Service; development and implementation of curriculum and programs that address identified learning needs within the Service; contribution to the creation of a culture of Nursing excellence; assistance with the development of competencies and annual review of competencies for assigned nursing units; assistance with coordination of Simulation Lab learning activities.
