Some positions are eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. This position is located in the Primary Care Service within the Eastern Colorado Health Care System at the PFC Lindstrom Community Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Colorado Springs, CO. This position provides support to and is responsible for Primary Care across the Southern Colorado Healthcare System and market. The incumbent serves as the Associate Chief of Staff (ACOS) for Primary Care of Southern Colorado. The incumbent is ultimately responsible for managing the full spectrum of primary care responsibilities, including admission, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, including consultation of patients presenting with internal medicine complaints, diseases, and injuries. The Southern ACOS collaborates with the Northern ACOS, Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff, with facility-level oversight of comprehensive Primary Care. The incumbent provides input, advice and counsel for the total Medical Center planning, programming, budgeting and general administration. The incumbent manages a large, diverse program which provides comprehensive health care services central to the mission of ECHCS. The incumbent establishes clinical objectives congruent with and reflective of the philosophy and objectives of the Medical Center and Southern Colorado CBOCs. The incumbent formulates policies and operating procedures, ensuring compliance with VA regulations, statutes and the standards and requirements of various internal and external review bodies. The incumbent assesses the impact of VISN, national and private-sector developments as they relate to Primary Care, making and/or recommendations changes accordingly. The position requires operational and scientific knowledge and experience of Medical Care practices, principles and administration. Membership in appropriate professional organizations is highly desirable. Position must have extensive knowledge and leadership experience in Medical Care programs to efficiently and effectively carry out the varied management aspects of the position. The ACOs must keep abreast of new and exciting clinical, technical, and administrative concepts and analyze them with the needs of the VA, VHA, VISN and ECHCS in mind. The ability to analyze the competing demands for resources is extremely important and must take into account valid measures of productivity, quality, timeliness, and responsiveness to customer needs and expectations. Must be able to maintain effective measures of staff competency and performance improvement, in accordance with the medical center's established performance improvement program.
