The Clinical Command Center Section Chief is the supervisor of the Clinical Command Center section within the Medicine Service. Specific Clinical Command Center Section Chief responsibilities within the Clinical Command Center of the Fayetteville NC VA Coastal Health Care System (FNCVACHCS): Day-to-day clinical activities, which include: Assessment of clinical status of patients identified for transfer from the FNCVACHCS to other VA or community facilities or from other VA/community facilities to the FNCVACHCS including, but not limited to, determination of the medical and/or surgical needs of the patient, identification of the appropriate facility and receiving service, final decision-making regarding appropriateness of transfer. When the FNCVACHCS is the receiving facility, duties will extend to writing of initial orders for transfer/admission and ordering any immediately identified necessary consults. These activities will be performed in coordination and communication with other Clinical Command Center staff, the transferring physician/NP/PA, and the receiving physician/NP/PA. Attending on inpatient teams - including staffing the day inpatient hospital service, COVID-19-unit, night shift positions, and/or ICU - may be required on an intermittent basis. Participates in Quality Improvement and Systems Redesign projects; required to follow through with projects and show evidence of completed projects. Participates in educational activities for residents and students; i.e., morning report, afternoon teaching, PCM, curriculum development when trainees are present on the medicine inpatient service (unless dealing with an emergency or off). Provides continuing educational activities to peers. Participate in Committees, RCAs, and QI projects. Attends all administrative meetings of the Medical Service. Completes twice-yearly Professional Practice Evaluation; Completes all PEER Reviews by due date. Maintains current DEA, board, BLS/ACLS, and state licensing and certification in alignment with facility requirements. Attends regular Section meetings (unless dealing with an emergency or off). Attends IDT rounds daily when on service. Completes other tasks as delegated by the Director, Chief of Staff, or Chief of Medicine. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
