The Central Texas VA Health Care System is seeking a full time Supervisory Psychiatrist to manage several outpatient programs assigned with the Mental Health & Behavioral Medical Service. Duties as Supervising Psychiatrist include the following: Provides leadership guidance, administrative as well as clinical, supervision and/or consultation as appropriate to staff in assigned areas. Provides administrative oversight and clinical consultation to other interdisciplinary team members for whom the incumbent is not the designated first line rating authority. Provides clinical supervision to psychiatry residents, Fellows, medical students, and other trainees as appropriate. Ensures timely access to care of patients assigned to the team, in accordance with local and national policies. Monitors compliance of team members with VA performance measures and effectively shapes provider practice patterns to improve standing on performance measures. Provides leadership and guidance in hiring of new staff members for the team. Resolves conflicts among team members and adjudicates complaints and problems of employees in a timely and effective manner. Approves leave for employees under their supervision and ensures that appropriate clinical coverage is arranged for patient care responsibilities. Initiates performance awards for outstanding employees and completes administrative paperwork with both accuracy and timeliness. Facilitates liaisons with other health care programs to effectively coordinate services. Attends and participates in administrative and informational meetings held by the Chief of Psychiatry, MHBM Site Chief, ACOS MHBM, Deputy Chief of Staff, Chief of Staff, and/or Facility Director or any of their respective designees, as needed. Participates in the monitoring, management and improvement of SAIL measures. Other administrative responsibilities as needed Work Schedule: Monday - Friday (07:30 am-4:00 pm.; 07:30 a.m.-8:00 p.m.; 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; or 08:00 a.m.-8:30 p.m.) VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
