Working as a Registered Nurse in the 5 star rated Community Living Center (CLC) at the West Texas VA Health Care System (located in Big Spring, Texas) you will serve Veterans in an interdisciplinary facility servicing Outpatient needs as well as a 24/7 residential Community Living Center, and Domiciliary. You will provide direct patient care to male and female Veterans in every stage of adult life and provide information, support and comfort to the families of the Veteran. As the assigned Registered Nurse, you will serve as role model and demonstrate leadership in the core competencies of the High-Performance Development Model such as personal mastery, interpersonal relationships, customer service, clinical skills, age-specific care, critical thinking, creativity, and organizational stewardship. You are responsible to provide personalized, proactive and patient-driven care in a home like environment. You will take into consideration all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Your duties will include but are not limited to: Administer medications and procedures per established policies and guidelines. Documenting observations, assessments, and changes in patient's condition. Collaborate with health team members to facilitate positive patient care outcomes. Provide a full range of nursing care to patients with and variety of physical and/or behavior problems. Demonstrate critical thinking skills with efficiency and accuracy in assessing and managing all situations. Utilizes good organizational skills and demonstrated ability to lead patient centered care. Demonstrate the ability to establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team. Although not required for consideration and selection, Nurses who meet the following criteria will be considered highly qualified. At least two years in Adult/Geriatric acute medical/surgical nursing, skilled nursing, long term care or other related nursing experience. At least six months of supervisory and/or charge nursing experience. At least one year of medication administration, IV therapy, and providing patient education. At least six months of wound care treatment experience. National certificates in Geriatric/Med-Surg or Hospice Care or other related certifications.
