This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Learn more The Nurse Manager is a professional nurse and first-line nursing manager who functions under the direction and guidance of the Associate Chief Nurse-Geriatrics and Extended Care, providing clinical and administrative leadership. The Nurse Manager uses the nursing process to achieve identified goals for the agency and service. As a nursing leader, the Nurse Manager directly supervises all nursing personnel in the Community Living Center, a 108-bed long term care, skilled care rehab and hospice service. Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Identifies physiological, psychological, social and environmental variable affecting the functional status of the older adult and palliative care patient. Identifies current coping mechanisms and support systems and their effectiveness. Responsible for all issues that affect nursing, including standards of practice, training, rating employees, continued professional development of personnel Serves as a role model and coaches and supports staff in critical thinking regarding professional nursing practice Leads and organizes delivery of care to assure continuity of care and peer accountability for practice, including access to care and discharge planning. Uses sound clinical judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating nursing care, based on the ANA Standards of Nursing Practice. Uses advanced clinical knowledge/judgment to promote staff involvement in planning, decision- making, and evaluating outcomes.
