Phoenix VA Healthcare System is currently recruiting for a Supervisory Social Worker to practice within the VA Supportive Housing (VASH) program in the Social Work Service. Incumbent will be responsible for the professional and administrative management of the Housing and Urban Development-VA Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) and to provide direct clinical services with program coordination responsibilities. The incumbent supervises a group of employees performing work at various GS levels up to their own grade and provides administrative, technical, and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work of the unit. HUD-VASH Supervisory Social Worker performs the administrative and personnel management function relative to staff supervised. Duties include but are not limited to the following: Establishes guidelines and performance expectations for staff, clearly communicated through the formal employee performance management system. Develops work improvement plans, recommending personnel actions as necessary. Effects disciplinary measures as appropriate to the authority delegated in this area. Performs program coordination duties as appropriate and/or requested by supervisor, Chief, Social Work Service, or designee. Oversees program operations and evaluations, identifying areas for improvement, gathering relevant data, assessing the data, developing and implementing ideas for improvement and evaluating efficacy of improvement efforts. Provides analysis and evaluation of clinical program data to identify system-wide trends and needs to enhance the quality of service. Develops, implements, evaluates and reports on program performance; including assigned measures, monitors, data and other metrics of interest. Provides leadership, direction, orientation, coaching, in-service training, staff development and continuing education programs for assigned staff. Performs a wide range of services and provides technical assistance to State, local, and private agencies, and universities. Provides independent and expert clinical psychosocial and case management services in a specialized area of practice to Veterans who tend to have serious and severe crises requiring professional psychological support.
