Mt. Grant General Hospital is accepting applications for the position of full-time Risk Manager/QA-UR Coordinator. Coordinates and develops the Risk Management Department as well as other programs and activities related. This position acts as a consultant to all departments and areas of risk and liabilities. The position is a member of the management team of the facility and serves on committees as assigned. The position also performs the functions of a hospital wide Quality Assurance Coordinator under the direction of the Administrator and medical staff goals and the approved Quality Assurance/Utilization Review (QA/UR) plan and monitors unusual occurrences, report follow-up procedures, and report monthly and year -to-date comparisons. The position also monitors adherence to the hospital’s utilization review plan to ensure the effective and efficient use of hospital services and monitors the appropriateness of hospital admissions and extended hospital stays. Reports to the Administrator.

Development of Risk Management policies and procedures.
Communicates with members of the health care team, patients, and family to obtain information.
Implementation of monitoring programs designed to improve total quality management hospital wide.
Review, evaluation, trend, and monitor of unusual occurrence reports pertaining to the Lefa L. Seran Skilled Nursing Facility, Mt. Grant General Hospital Medical Surgical Units, Home Health Services, Medical Clinic, visitors and other patient occurrences.
Maintains confidentiality of patient information and information discovered through the QA program.
Responsible for achieving a satisfactory work environment between other departments performing quality-assurance studies, and assisting when necessary with the accumulation, display, routing and dissemination of the information to appropriate committees, physicians, and departments. Review, evaluation, trend, and monitor studies of patient and visitor complaints, concerns and Patient Satisfaction Surveys.
Assists departments with the coordination of audit information, and recommends appropriate data-gathering mechanisms, procedures, etc. Keeps the departments informed of studies in process and progress thereof, committee agenda items; discusses problems and completion of audit procedures.
Alerts the Administrator to unresolved health or safety problems.
Directs other departmental supervisors and employees in risk liability issues.
Personality and ability to perform administrative duties including counseling and hiring or terminating employees in conjunction with Administrator.
Maintains accurate records, recording information pertaining to the immediate situation.
Performs quality-assurance functions to accomplish hospitalwide coordination, monitoring, and reporting of QA studies according to the QA/UR plan.
Establishes and maintains efficient methods of ensuring the medical necessity and appropriateness of all hospital admissions.
Performs concurrent reviews for patients to ensure that extended stays are medically justified and are so documented in patient’s medical records. Calculates the lengths of stay and continued-stay days for patients.
Refers to the Committee all cases that do not meet established guidelines for admission or continued stay.
Assists the UR Committee in the assessment and solution of identified utilization review problems.
Maintains a liaison with the DON and social service department to facilitate timely discharge planning.
Must possess either an Associates or higher degree AND must have practical experience in the field. Possess training in the area of risk management OR ability and aspiration to complete training provided through the Hospital.
State of Nevada Nursing License or ability to obtain State of Nevada Nursing License preferred. Risk Management experience preferred. Utilization Review or case management experience preferred.
Per NRS 449.179 and NRS 200.5091, successful applicant(s) must pass required state and federal background checks.
