This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Wilmington VA Medical Center (VAMC) is located just outside of the Wilmington City limits. The Wilmington VA Medical Center offers comprehensive services ranging from preventive screenings to long-term care; with state-of-the-art technology and education. The Wilmington VAMC proudly serves Veterans in five (5) Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) located throughout Delaware and Southern New Jersey. Every job at the VA impacts the quality of care provided to the Veterans that we serve. The incumbent will be located at the Wilmington VA Medical Center (VAMC) and will provide comprehensive primary care services for patients in Primary Care setting in the assigned location. The Physician's duties may include, but are not limited to: Provides or coordinates all aspects of the patient's care including preventive, urgent, and routine care including women's healthcare. Provides effective care to patients characterized by using sound judgment in assessing, planning, implementing, documenting and evaluating patient care for assigned patients. Provides medical histories and performs comprehensive physical examinations (H and P's), orders appropriate diagnostic studies, interprets and analyzes medical data, establishes diagnoses, formulates and implements treatment plans, and modifies treatment plans; orders subspecialty consults, tests, prosthetic requests, completes forms on veterans' behalf that are within the treatment purview of the incumbent, and performs other clinical duties. References quality improvement information and organizes patient care needs to assure safe, efficient, and cost-effective care and initiates effective actions in emergencies. Treat opiate use disorder with buprenorphine therapy (training available) in consultation with Behavioral Health. Treat Geriatric Primary Care patients and is encouraged to apply for implementation of a Geriatric Primary Care panel (encouraged but not required); Engage in Women's Health treatment, hypertension management, and diabetes management; Support residency training of affiliated medical Universities and programs.
