The campuses of Wesleyan Homes offer multiple levels of assistance including Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care at The Wesleyan at Estrella; Nursing Care, Memory Care and Rehabilitation Therapy Services at The Wesleyan at Scenic, Hospice Services and Home Health.
AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
Establishes and maintains operation of institution. Directs, coordinates and supervises all activities. Complies with federal, state and local standards for nursing home operation. Supervises maintenance of building, grounds, and equipment. Establishes personnel policies and department policies and procedures.
Interprets nursing home's philosophy and all policies to staff and other concerned parties. Reports to the chief executive officer and the governing board, according to by-laws and as necessary.
Responsible for assisting or leading in all aspects of admission to the nursing facility, including, but not limited to: screening telephone inquiries, giving tours of the facility, information gathering and receipt of applications for admission from client and/or family members; verification of eligibility for admission; if Medicare/insurance primary coverage is anticipated, gathering and verification of all appropriate information from health care providers for admissions team to act upon; pre-admission data entry into the computer system, and; finally, coordination of the admission with Wesleyan staff and completion of final admission papers with the resident and/or responsible party;
The administrator is the chief administrative officer of the assigned home.
Major emphasis in on program development and management functions of planning, organizing, directing, controlling and coordinating.
Has direct contact, consults and counsels with the residents.
Brings to the board those matters and issues requiring policy formulation and then implementing such policies as established.
Hires, trains and supervises employees through department heads. Interprets personnel policies and practices. Conducts meetings with staff concerning all needs and requirements and establishes priorities.
Supervises maintenance of all records, funds, statistics, satisfies licensing requirements.
Authorizes purchase of supplies and equipment
Promotes favorable public relations, interprets the services of the home, and represents the home in meetings of professional and civic groups.
Assists in processing admissions, coordinates work with other social-health agencies.
Works in liaison with medical staff to insure program prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and restoration. Performing the integrative functions such as fiscal planning and control, personnel, documents and inventory, grounds and building maintenance, transportation and communication, housekeeping, dietary, safety and security programs clinical phases of care.
The administrator has authority to negotiate a contract or contracts with the Texas department of human resources and to execute said contract or contracts on behalf of the Texas medical assistance vendor program and has the power and authority to execute any and all documents incident to this transaction or any future transaction incident to participation in the Texas medical assistance vendor program and in addition authority to do any and all things necessary to implement, maintain, amend or renew said
Contracts to assure continued participation in the Texas medical assistance vendor program.
Establish and/or maintain a good working relationship with potential referral sources for new admissions such as area hospital discharge planners, physicians and other healthcare providers, and appropriate staff at other Wesleyan facilities, area retirement and assisted living communities;
Other duties as assigned.
Currently Licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator in the State of Texas; 21 years of age or older
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as Nursing Home Administrator
Willingness to work with various department heads, residents, visitors and family members.
Able to plan, direct, organize and control the operations and the management of the facilities
Have sound knowledge of federal and state regulations, Medicare and Medicaid regulations
Have sound knowledge of nursing and medical practices, procedures and laws pertaining to nursing home and retirement home operations
Must possess leadership ability
Must have the ability to work despite frequent interruptions and with due consideration to residents, visitors, and other staff members
Proficient in computers and computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheets and Microsoft Outlook
